I was walking through the student union today, trying to find a place to eat my pizza, I came upon a jazz band playing outdoors. They must have been in the Army since they were all wearing fatigues, which struck me as kind of odd, since that's not what I usually think of when I think about jazz players. Jazz is all about improvisation, the military is about precision and discipline, it was a conflict of two worlds. I like jazz. If there were a soundtrack to my day, it would probably be jazz. The rhythm is that of walking down the street, of steady activity rather than heart-stopping events. Exciting but not necessarily loud.
